The final image complete with some hand written text using different pencils altogether and to add more colour to the picture as it were.

There are 2 symbols on the fox's right leg and some ripple effects which do not exist on the image. The markings are due to the plastic protecting the frame, where this picture currently sits.

I used several shades of green for the grass. I did not want my image to look like it was floating in thin air.

I created this piece using pastel pencils which allowed me to blend my colours easily. It did prove to be an incredibly messy job but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The idea of the fox was inspired by a 2yr old girl who has a love for fox pictures, so this will be a little gift for her when it is completed.

Complete with text, monoprinted features and the addition of indian ink to highlight certain area's of the face, brown and green ink was used for the weeds.

A Mini Project

I was asked to design 2 book covers for a school project book, I was given a few guidelines and had a bit of fun with it. I decided to feature a deer because the school is close to Richmond Park. I wanted to keep the designs the same/identical so continued to use the same drawing for each.

The addition of names. This required so much concentration and I ended up with a splitting headache. The leaves include the names of all the pupils in the same class. The lower part of the trunk features the names of both teacher and teaching assistant, I did not want the teachers names to be highlighted or dominate the piece.

I was asked about scraping the autumn leaves and making them all green instead to symbolise 'growth'. I was happy enough to do this, just so long as all the leaves were not too similar in colour or texture. I was able to mix it up a bit in the end.

Going back to basics.. I was set a little project by a friend of mine, something fun. I decided to work with one of my favouite mediums, ink and blowing it through a straw to create a busy look in the branches, the tree itself was made using a monoprint technique.. I was happy with the overall look of the skeleton or base as it were even though I did manage to make some mess in the process,

My tree is not currently on display at work. A fun project for work and on a noticeboard taking centre stage. I think it works quite well with the blue back drop.

The completed tree with all 43 partners (leaves), sections (small branches), Section Managers (branches) and Department Manager (tree trunk). Overall I did not want the names on the tree to be all neat and tidy, I wanted the letters to be quite loose and spaced out slightly on the tree.

Using a dip pen and ink I placed the names of all partners from my department on each individual leaf.

The tree has finally gained some colour whilst monoprinting. The ridges in the corrugated cardboard help to give a natural and realistic looking effect.

I was asked to create a family tree for a creative project at work. Instead of using Microsoft Word and typing names out and printing them on various coloured paper I thought I might aswell put my artistic skills and knowledge to the test. I decided to make a tree using paper and corrugated cardboard and with the help of monoprinting to create textured effects.

Working in 2D and producing several drawings .. This part of my animation did not make the final cut.

I made drawings of the behind of a Boxer (dog) getting excited, hence wagging his tail. Overall this scene did not fit in with the rest and looked 'flat'.

I've been told that this guy has a likeness to Elvis.. Must be the quiff. Bactrian Camels in general have lots of hair, this sculpture caused a lot of issues for me, the wire had a mind of its own!!!

Here we have it ...Some of my final year work up on display at my Degree Show at Bower Ashton. A combination of wire sculptures and 5 photographs of my original pieces. The large sculpture on the left is a Pig made using Barbed wire - it was a nightmare to use.. My poor hands were cut and scratched but it was worth it in the end!!!

Basically this is the same photograph posted previously. This simply has a warmer tone. I decided to post this up so that viewers could see the difference... I preferred the blue, coolers tones because certain elements in the image were more visible, especially the shadows whereas the shadows are extremely faint and hardly recognisible.

My first post of the month.... This is a photograph taken of one wire sculpture I have produced, reference was made to an existing line drawing in one of my sketchbooks. The original photograph was too dark but hopefully viewers can make out the darker line which is the wire sculpture and the fainter line which is the shadow. I am generally happy with this outcome.

I worked in a continuous line here, using pencil and not looking at the page too... quite a hard thing to do but if I concentrate and focus on the person I am drawing I can get a true likeness.

I merged my line drawing with a monoprint I made earlier to provide colour and texture.... I am in the process of working out Adobe Photoshop, it is not my favourite way of working but it does have its positives.

My Rhino screen print was conducted using a 7 colour separation. I wanted to use earthy tones/colours when I made this piece and provide more detail to the head with the additions of lines.

Continuous line observational studies of a Giraffe using a lovely 'sepia' colour pen. I varied the thickness of the pen depending on the size of my study.

I created a series of observational drawings of owls during a Birds of Prey Demonstration. I found that working in a continuous line allowed me to make interesting drawings without looking at the page and watching the owl moving in various ways.

I made this observational study of a rhino using ink and a broken lolly stick to get a textured effect whilst drawing. Some of the markings and variations in colour were an accident but do work in some way.
